Dave T. Nguyen
Founder & Vice President - Dave received his Master's of Science from Johns Hopkins University. He is the founder, investor, and managing partner of various small businesses in the DC Metro area – including the Business Culture & Language Centre – all of which are involved in community reinvestment and giving back initiatives. Dave has extensive experience as a patent law instructor, life skills coach, and business development manager in various organizations including the United States Patent & Trademark Office and AASuccess (www.aasuccess.org). He is a recipient of the exceptional career award signed by the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, and outstanding leadership awards for twelve consecutive years.
Linda Zheng MBA
Business Development Associate - Linda grew up in China, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Wuhan University of Technology. Linda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2008 and Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2011, both from George Mason University. She currently works at Keel Point Advisors, LLC, as an investment analyst.
Jia (Katie) Lu M.Ed
Operations Director and Mandarin Chinese Language Training Manager - Jia Lu grew up in China, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Dalian University of Foreign Languages. She earned her Master’s Degree of Education together with Virginia Teaching Licensure in George Mason University. Jia has rich experiences in the areas of Mandarin Chinese teaching and interactive classroom training. Jia’s charismatic personality and rich experience make her class fun and effective for all students at different levels.
Mac-Phi Dang
Business Coordinator - Mac-Phi Dang is a social entrepreneur specializing in Information Technology, Document Scanning, and Video Production with a high growth potential. Prior to joining Business Culture and Language Centre, Mac Phi Dang worked as Marketing Manager at the Netherlands Education Support Office in Vietnam, the first Dutch education Organization in Ho Chi Minh City supports all Dutch Universities for exploring Vietnamese market. Mac Phi Dang holds a B.A. in International Business from the Foreign Trade University, Vietnam.
Yen N. Nguyen M.Ed
Vietnamese Language Training Manager - Yen has 25 years of language teaching experience and is fluent in French, Vietnamese, and English. She earned a Master of Education Degree in Teaching Foreign Language from George Mason University. Yen served as the Vietnamese Language & Culture Instructor at the Foreign Service Institute, US Department of State – where she taught, translated, and interpreted between French, Vietnamese, and English since 1991. Her role at BCLC involves developing and managing Vietnamese curriculum & course work and teaching business-level classes in Vietnamese culture & language.
Kim-Ha Ly
Vietnamese Language Instructor - Kim-Ha earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Saigon, School of Languages, and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Saigon, National Institute of Education. Before joining BCLC, she worked as Language Teacher at the CACI Language Center. She also served government and industry organizations for 40 years in roles ranging from Social Worker to Language Teacher & Specialist to Entrepreneur. Her responsibilities at BCLC consist of assisting the Training Manager in executing the curriculum & course work, as well as teaching the beginner- and intermediate- level classes in Vietnamese culture & language.
Huiyan (April) Sun M.Ed
Mandarin Chinese Instructor - Huiyan Sun was born in Shenyang, China, and she is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese She received her BA in Education back in China and MA in Education in George Mason University. She enjoys teaching Chinese to adults and children. Huiyan likes exploring and applying new teaching strategies in her teaching, and she emphasizes the differences of individual learners.
Cho Kiu Wan
Cantonese Chinese Instructor -Cho Kiu was born in Hong Kong, China, who is a native speaker of both Cantonese Chinese and Mandarin Chinese. She has extensive experience in Cantonese and Mandarin teaching and tutoring. Cho Kiu now is a senior student majoring in Psychology with a Concentration in Education at George Mason University. With her educational background and rich experience, Cho Kiu possesses an extraordinary understanding of children’s minds and behaviors. Cho Kiu is great with kids, and she is a very passionate and caring teacher.
Zhiyan (George) Gao M.Ed
Mandarin Chinese Instrutor - Zhiyan Gao recently earned his MA in Linguistics from George Mason University. He received his BA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Soochow University (Suzhou, China) in 2009 and has since taught Mandarin Chinese to adults in Suzhou, China and later in the D.C. area. He has a passion for Chinese calligraphy and pre-qin philosophy. He also likes bad puns, pop rocks and parallel parking.
